Church Plant

What is a "Church Plant?"

If you were to ask most people, "What is the church?,"  likely they would point to some building on the corner.  But the New Testament (Bible) understanding is a bit different. You might have to ask the following questions:
  • How do you start a new church?
  • Who starts a new church?
  • What does this new church look like?
  • Don't  you have pews and hymnals, that sort of thing?
Consider what the Apostle Paul wrote concerning the early church:   6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.  7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.  8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.  9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. (1 Corinthians 3:6-9)
  • A new church is started when a group of Christians have the passion to begin a new gathering of Christians in a particular area.  In the case of WPF it is Falcon, Colorado.
  • The Rocky Mountain Presbytery has selected Rev. Christopher Faria to be their "church planter," like Paul, in this area.
  • The new church (plant) looks like a bunch of Christians- 1 Cor.3:6-9 calls people the church!
  • We don't have a building, pews or hymnals... yet!  We will begin Sunday School and Worship services, 27 January 2008 at the Old Falcon High School.
  • Sunday School begins at 9:30 am.
  • Worship begins at 11:00 am
