Martin Luther's Bondage of the Will- Do we have "free will," or are our wills in
bondage to our nature?  As Pastor Faria preaches his way through the book of
Ephesians we will be discussing several aspects of this issue.  Martin Luther and the humanist Erasmus carried on a significant debate on this issue.  Luther held that his "Bondage of the Will," with his Catechism were the two best things he ever produced.

The Confession Unbound- Meditations on the Westminster Confession- by
Dr. Christopher Faria.
The Westminster Confession has been around for 350-plus years. Trying to say something new about something so old might seem to be at best a waste of time or at worst a paradox. But the Westminster Divines explicitly set out to set down the biblical patterns of the Reformation faith and to defend the Reformation distinctive from attack. Regarding the former, biblical patterns of faith never are old. Sometimes our expressions of the faith can become time-worn, to be sure. But the "old, old story" of God's grace unfolded in redemptive history is always new (Lam.3:23). The Confession Unbound is a collection of meditations and exposition of the Scriptures in each section of the Westminster Confession. The format lends itself to a daily devotional time so that you can work your way through the Confession in a timely and a deeper fashion. (Link takes you to external site where you can purchase).

Rapids in the Stream- by Dr. Christopher Faria

-An evaluation of the "enthusiasms" of the First Great Awakening. Drawing upon original diaries and accounts, Rapids in the Stream concludes that these amazing phenomena were the result of hypnosis. They were part of a larger phenomena of cultural change as the church shifted from European based traditions to a typically American expression of Christianity. Available for purchase here.
